Common questions new and existing families ask about our policies, care philosophy, and logistics.

Program Basics

What are your hours?

🕗 Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. We appreciate punctuality at both drop-off and pickup!

Are you licensed?

✅ Yes! Marvelous Kids is a fully licensed Large Family Child Care. Our license number is #434416790.

What curriculum do you use?

📚 We use a play-based learning approach rooted in real-world experiences, imaginative play, art, music, and outdoor exploration. Our activities support your child’s social, emotional, and physical development.

What ages do you accept?

We currently enroll children between 15 months and 4 years old. Our environment is especially suited for toddlers and young preschoolers.

How do you support child development?

🎨 We focus on hands-on activities like sensory bins, music, dramatic play, outdoor movement, and simple structured learning — with the flexibility toddlers need.

Do you accept children with special needs?

❤️ We do our best to accommodate all children and work closely with parents to support any developmental or individual needs.

Meals & Nutrition

Do you provide meals?

🥗 Yes! We provide breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack. Parents are asked to send one additional snack from home to give kids a familiar option.

What is your meal policy?

🥦 We serve mostly vegetarian, home-cooked meals. Each day follows a theme (e.g., grains, vegetables, protein). Allergies are taken seriously — please let us know and we’ll accommodate. You’re always welcome to send alternatives if your child has strong food preferences.

Do you provide milk?

We follow pediatric guidelines — 2 cups per day is recommended. We ask parents to serve milk at home in the morning and evening. We provide milk on cereal days (usually Tuesdays).

Health, Safety & Wellness

What are your health and safety policies?

🧼 Regular handwashing is built into our routine. 🧽 Toys and high-touch surfaces are sanitized daily. 👩‍⚕️ We are certified in Infant/Child CPR and First Aid and maintain up-to-date emergency plans and equipment.

Do you have cameras?

📹 Yes, we have internal safety cameras in use for provider monitoring only. These are not live-streamed to families, but are in place to support quality and safety oversight.

What is your sick policy?

🤒 Kids must stay home if they have a fever (101°F+), vomiting, diarrhea, or any contagious symptoms. They may return 24 hours after symptoms have resolved without medication.

How do you handle emergencies?

🚨 We follow a clearly outlined emergency plan and will notify parents immediately if a situation arises. Emergency contacts are called if you’re unreachable.

Do you run background checks?

🔍 Yes. All required background checks are completed in compliance with state licensing standards.

Do you potty train?

🚽 We do not lead potty training but are happy to support whatever method you use at home. We recommend starting over a long weekend or break to ensure consistency.

Discipline, Communication & Structure

How do you handle discipline?

🧘 We use positive reinforcement and redirection — always age-appropriate and rooted in helping children understand their emotions and boundaries. No time-outs or punishment-based strategies here.

How do you communicate with parents?

📱 We use the Lillio app (formerly HiMama) for all daily updates, including naps, meals, diapers, notes, photos, and announcements. You can also message us directly through the app for quick updates or check-ins.

Can I contact you during the day?

Yes! The Lillio app is our preferred method, but for urgent matters you’re welcome to text directly. We’ll respond as soon as we can during breaks or downtime.

How do I pay tuition?

💳 Invoices are sent via the Lillio app monthly. Auto-pay is available and encouraged to keep things simple.

What’s your late pickup policy?

⏰ We understand that occasional delays happen. However, repeated late pickups may result in additional charges or a policy review, as we have family obligations after hours.

Enrollment & Scheduling

How does enrollment work?

📝 Start by scheduling a tour. After the visit, if it’s a good fit and we have space, we’ll send you our waitlist or enrollment packet. Spots are offered based on alignment with our group (age/timing/transition readiness) — not first come, first served.

Do you offer part-time care?

We are a full-time only program at this time to maintain consistency and routine for our group.

What is your holiday and vacation schedule?

📅 We follow the Santa Clara Unified School District for most major holidays. In addition, we take 10 days of PTO and 3 personal/emergency days per year — all communicated in advance. See our Holiday Calendar for the full breakdown.
